Supply improves for the biggest Chinese ute in Australia
The LDV T60 Max Mega Tub is back on sale in Australia, and the Chinese brand says more stock is coming to local dealerships.
LDV's local distributor Ateco says stock is now flowing of the relaunched T60 Mega Tub, the largest Chinese ute currently on sale in Australia.
The LDV T60 Max Mega Tub started reaching dealers around two months ago, and more stock is set to arrive imminently.
At 5680mm long, it's 315mm longer than the standard T60 Max - its tub is 1800mm long, or 275mm longer than the T60's, while its wheelbase overall has been stretched by 315mm.
LDV confirmed pricing for the lone Mega Tub variant late last year: $49,463 drive-away for retail buyers, or $46,990 drive-away for ABN holders.
However, the company is currently offering the Mega Tub for $47,463 and $44,990 drive-away, respectively.
Like the rest of the T60 Max range, the Mega Tub features four-wheel drive and a 2.0-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine with 160kW of power and 500Nm of torque, though it's only available with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
It weighs only 20kg more than the Luxe auto, and has the same claimed combined cycle fuel consumption of 9.3L/100km.

A 2023 update for the wider T60 Max range also saw the base Pro gain side steps, chrome roof rails and a stainless steel sports bar, with the Luxe gaining black 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, sailplane and wheel arches, plus an updated leather-wrapped steering wheel, body-coloured mirrors and a soft-release tailgate.
The T60 Max continues to be the only nameplate in its segment to not offer autonomous emergency braking, and in fact LDV Australia has even removed a key active safety feature since launch with the deletion of blind-spot monitoring.
It has been overtaken in the sales race by the GWM Ute, which is down on power and torque but which offers considerably more safety equipment.
LDV has sold 2930 T60s to the end of April, not including 23 examples of the rear-wheel drive eT60 electric ute.
That puts it below the GWM Ute (3181 sales), but ahead of the Korean SsangYong Musso (1239 sales).
Only the latter offers an extended-length version, called the Musso XLV, which measures 5409mm long - 271mm shorter than the T60 Max Mega Tub. However, the Musso XLV offers a braked towing capacity of 3500kg, up 500kg on the T60 Max.
